Oil palm diseases in Tanzania

Fusarium wilt and Ganoderma are among the main diseases affecting oil palms on the African continent.
During our technical sales representative Tomas’s last trip to Tanzania, confirmed cases of Ganoderma were observed in the field.
The presence of Fusarium is also highly likely, although a definitive diagnosis requires dissection of the palm tree.
A major risk for plantations
According to the RSPO, Ganoderma — a lethal disease endemic to Asia, but also present in Africa and America — can cause up to 80% mortality in plantations.
Our advice
The choice of seeds is crucial.
Once the plantation is established, genetics are the most effective protection against Ganoderma. This justifies the highest standards in seed selection and high expectations in terms of resources and results from the seed producer.
Our solution
Our #G seeds offer protection against Ganoderma and are available on our best seeds. The resistance transmitted by our best parent plants is evaluated on a large scale, both:
• in plantations![]()
• through early tests on seedlings in pre-nurseries![]()
