01/09/2026 – Performance and Risks – Thailand

Meeting Thai Producers!

In June 2026, two members of our sales and scientific teams—Ambre Fabing, a product expert, and Camille Madec, a genetic breeder—traveled to southern Thailand to work alongside our local subsidiary, Siam Elite Palm (SEP).

Agronomic Performance

The farmers we met reported yields ranging from 25 to 33 metric tons per hectare per year on the plots we visited—a level of performance that demonstrates the potential of our varieties under Thai growing conditions.

Ganoderma Pressure

The mission also revealed a concerning reality: the spread of Ganoderma in the region’s fields. This pathogen poses a growing risk to the industry, and monitoring it is an integral part of the support we aim to provide to producers. In the photo, you can see carpophores—the part of the fungus that contains spores—which are characteristic of Ganoderma. These fungi cause the death and, in some cases, the collapse of the palm tree.

 The Answer: Genetics

To date, the genetic solution is at the heart of the integrated approach to controlling Ganoderma. PalmElit offers improved, Ganoderma-resistant seeds (#G DExLM), a key tool for safeguarding growers’ investments. Farmers have already taken advantage of this to replant their Ganoderma-affected plantations and secure their future!

Thank you to the farmers for their hospitality, and to the SEP team for this collaboration in the fieldPictogramme jeune pousse
